Good News / Bad News

The good news is:  Amazon has finally fixed the preview of "Sowing Freedom, Reaping Joy".  Both the "Look Inside the Book" and "Download a Sample" features are properly formatted now.

The bad news is:  For the first time since I published in July 2018, my thirty day sales reports says "You have no sales to report".  But I do have some Kindle Edition Normalized Pages Read.  So all is not lost.

If you haven't tried any of my books yet, this might be the right time!

So Disappointing

I tried the "Download a Sample" and the "Look Inside" feature on Amazon on my latest book, "Sowing Freedom, Reaping Joy".  The formatting on both is totally messed up.

It looks like the first version I uploaded, which gets a whole bunch of stuff added by way of the macro in Word and the embedded software in Kindle Create.

You really don't know what you have until you look at the proof in the Kindle Direct Publishing software.

It looks so bad I would never buy the book.

I contacted Amazon, and it was a fiasco.  I lost my temper, and now have been told I will have an answer by Tuesday, April 16.

Maybe this helps explain why the sales of this book are so poor.

Always something

I was reading "Sowing Freedom, Reaping Joy" last night, and I found a minor inconsistency in the story line.  I corrected it, and submitted the corrected manuscripts to Kindle Direct Publishing this morning.

So to all of you who have already purchased a copy, I apologize for the error.  So far, no one has mentioned it to me, it may be so minute only I would notice it.

You know you are an author when...

I spent over an hour yesterday reconstructing the family trees of two of the characters in my book so that I could accurately describe their relationship.

Fictional accuracy is important.

Exciting Day

Yesterday was an exciting day in my life as an author.  My latest book, "Sowing Freedom, Reaping Joy" will be offered for sale in Frogmore Plantation's gift shop.

I had gone to Frogmore Plantation in November of 2018, and had mentioned to the owner that I had written a historical fiction novel set in Louisiana.  She said that she would be interested in carrying it in the bookstore when it was published.

When the book was finally published in February, I ordered an author copy to send to Frogmore, and then it sat on my desk for six weeks, while I struggled with the fear of being rejected or ignored if I actually sent a copy.

I finally swallowed my fear and put the book in the mail.  I kept tracking the package on USPS, so I know it was delivered on Monday.  On Tuesday morning, I heard from the owner of Frogmore Plantation, and she will be offering my book for sale.

My first book in a store!  And it almost didn't happen because I was afraid to try.  I'm so glad I found the courage to put that book in the mail!

Obsessing

I'm obsessing over sales and reviews, or more specifically the lack of sales and reviews.

But I'm getting Kindle Unlimited page reads.  That is the extent of my good news.

I'm obsessively checking my Kindle Direct Publishing dashboard and my Amazon author page instead of doing the writing I need to do.

If "Sowing Freedom, Reaping Joy" could just get one review, I would feel better.  I need to work on being happy that I am still writing more stories and bubbling over with ideas.

Fingers crossed tomorrow will have a sale and a review!

December

December!  Another year almost over. The holiday season in the United States has already started, as Thanksgiving was a week ago today. This...
